Felix Da Housecat : Global Underground Milan : 034

May 19, 2008

Global Underground Milan is the label’s first compilation of the year, so it’s definitely something to celebrate. It’s a meeting of one of the finest DJs in dance music with one of the most respected brands. The former was an original house music innovator from Chicago, who went on to reinvent his sound (and indeed the sound of most of the dance-floors of clubland) when he unwittingly created the sound known as ‘eletroclash’, while the latter revolutionised the idea of DJ-mixed compilations as we know and love them.

Movement – DEMF 2008

May 15, 2008

demf2008

The festival takes place Memorial Day weekend from Saturday, May 24th through Monday, May 26th in Detroit, Michigan.
The festival that started as DEMF (The Detroit Electronic Music Festival) has been in existence since the year 2000,
initially started by Pop Culture Media along with artistic director Carl Craig.
It has passed through the hands of various management, including Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and its current 3-year managing organization, Paxahau.
The festival holds a special place for fans of the roots of electronic music, as Detroit is credited as the birthplace of techno,
and it is a bit of a return to Mecca for many of the genre’s fans.
Many noted up and coming performers have taken part in the event, as well as several mainstays that have helped to shape the sound in general,
such as Kenny Dixon Jr. (AKA Moodymann), Scion (with a special secret appearance by Basic Channel), Inner City, Luomo, Underground Resistance, Derrick May and many more.
This year’s festivities include appearances by original DEMF co-founder Carl Craig, Egyptian Lover, Speedy J, Dubfire, Benny Benassi, Moby, James Zabiela, Deadmau5 , Josh Wink , Marco Carola, Mark Farina, and others.

Subliminal Sessions 12 Out June 23rd

May 14, 2008

Erick Morillo blasts back in to the world of Subliminal Sessions Compilations with the TWELFTH INSTALLMENT of his ground breaking Mix CD Series. The 12th Volume comes out of the speakers with a freshness of tomorrow and a respectful wink to the past.
Erick’s current crop of vinyls take us to the future with, ironically, a brand new anthem titled
“Back to My Roots/Denis the Menace” and “Morillo/Harry/Alex & P Diddy/Make A Movie”.
These tracks only he has in his box, or lets just say when Erick hits them they sound like nothing anybody else is playing not to mention the sexiest compilation around….fresh fresh fresh… Mixed in true Morillo style, “its party and yet its got an underground twist”, Erick uses his unique box of tricks and his seriously amazing DJ skills.
